HIRING

The spacious studio, situated in the village of Lybster, is available for hire by individuals and groups of artists and also to university courses.

HIRE AGREEMENT

The hirer must sign a hire agreement for the use of the Studio's facilities that identifies the terms and conditions within which both the Studio and the hirer will operate.

A deposit of 50% of the hire charge will be required at the time of booking or three months prior to the hire date, whichever is earlier, of which 20% is non refundable. Failure to cancel at least five days prior to the scheduled booking will result in loss of the full deposit. The balance of the hire charge should be paid prior to completion of the hire.

HIRE CHARGES

The Alastair Pilkington Studio facilities are available for hire when there are no classes or other events in progress. Rental times must be booked in advance.

Facilities in the Glass Studio are available to rent at the following rates:

HOT SHOP:
Per Day: £250
Per Week: £1200
Glass: Full tank (150kg): £125
Half Tank: £65

Charges include use of one furnace and all hot studio equipment - there are two annealing ovens in the hot shop (600 x 800 x 770mm). Additional furnace and specialised hot shop equipment available on request. Extended annealing cycle & charging outwith normal working hours will incur additional costs.

NB Colour and use of assistant is not included. Technical Assistant may be hired at an extra cost of £15.00 per hour.

KILN ROOM
Hire of Kiln room, including wax and mould making facilities:
£30 per day per person (£15 per half day)
Kilns are available for hire along with the other facilities, or may be hired individually. Rates are available on request.

Sand blaster - £5 per hour

COLD SHOP AND FINISHING ROOM
£50 per day
£25 per half day
Fees include the use of all cold working equipment and basic materials.

Kurt Merker lathes for engraving are available to competenet engravers.

Exclusive use of the whole studio is available at £1600 per week. Accommodation is also available in a 4 bedroom house at £300 per week plus domestic electricity and telephone charges. There is also local hotel and bed and bed breakfast accommodation.

Prices are exclusive of VAT which will be added at 17.5%.

EXTENDED RENTAL RATES

Discounts are available for extended periods of hire. These are negotiated with the Administration Manager.
